Unconditional Seasonal Support Project (UCSS)
The Unconditional Seasonal Support Project (UCSS) is a vital initiative designed to provide essential food assistance to the most vulnerable households in Afghanistan. Initially covering three districts in Kabul city (PD# 15, 13, and 16) and four districts in Parwan province (Sayed Khail, Jabal Seraj, Charikar, and Bagram), the project also extends support to returnees from Pakistan and Iran, particularly in Jabal Seraj and Sayed Khail districts. Currently, AWARD is implementing the UCSS project across five districts in Kapisa province—Hesa-e-Dowan, Nijrab, Ala Sai, Koh Band, and Mahmood Raqi. Through this project, AWARD is committed to alleviating food insecurity among the most vulnerable populations, ensuring that they receive timely and critical support during the most challenging seasons.
Maternal and Child Benefit Program (MCBP)
The MCBP is a safety net Programme that will provide nutrition & food security benefits for women and children through a providing health and nutrition information and awareness sessions and messages, complemented with a financial incentive to access services and support access to nutritious foods. The project aims to improve the nutritional status of vulnerable PBW and children under 2, by complementing health and nutrition services provided under Component 1 of HER, through:
Quarterly cash transfers to increase access to nutritious foods and support with the cost of accessing health facilities.
Health and nutrition awareness sessions and messages to increase utilization of services and improve practices related to health and nutrition.
AWARD will provide 15 months of cash assistance quarterly to pregnant, breastfeeding women, and mothers of toddlers.
Along with the cash transfer, AWARD will conduct quality health and nutrition information sessions and messaging for beneficiaries.
NGOs/CSOs Capacity Supporting Project (NCCSP)
The NGOs/CSOs Capacity Supporting Project (NCCSP), funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is focused on reducing poverty by creating income-generating and livelihood opportunities in Parwan province, Afghanistan. This project aims to empower local communities by strengthening the capacities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) to implement sustainable development initiatives. By fostering economic growth and enhancing livelihoods, the NCCSP contributes to the long-term stability and prosperity of Parwan province. AWARD is proud to partner with UNDP on this critical project, which aligns with our mission to support the social and economic integration of vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.
